Before & After: Slate to Shingles

Slate to Shingles

You are looking at the rear of this house. While the slate on the front roof had been maintained and was in good condition, the rear roofs had been ignored and the failing slate, exposed to full sun, needed to be replaced. The homeowner chose Certainteed Landmark Architectural shingles in a color close to the original slate color. The upper peak was topped with a copper peak cap, elegantly bridging the slate roof and the new shingle roof, and adjoining the new copper flashings at both chimneys.
