Installing copper ridge roll will reduce maintenance on your slate roof! Many slate ‘peaks and hips’ are sealed with black roofing cement, which is a viable option but needs regular maintenance when the cement shrinks & cracks (see 2nd photo). A copper ridge roll, also known as a “peak cap”, will securely cover those hips and peaks… and ours will last for 70+ years! Look for soldered seams at pitch-changes, overlap on straight runs, and fasteners that won’t cause galvanic action with the copper.
